Jewish Agency policy of non-cooperation with Reconstruction
continues after the end of the war
TNA CO 733/456/4 November, 1945: Following the Allied victory, Zionist opposition to Reconstruction continues (beginning 16 lines from bottom): "Jewish [here meaning Zionist] leaders are perturbed by the way in which Jewish immigration into Palestine has been linked with the question of the status of Jews in Europe, indicating an official hope [on the part of the Allies] that conditions in Europe can be improved sufficiently to induce Jews to resume residency there, thus deflating their [Zionist leaders'] insistence that very large-scale immigration into Palestine is the only hope for Jewry, and possibly their claim for a Jewish state."
